Anxiety, depression & mood disorders
A range of emotional and mental health difficulties, addressed individually.
Anxiety and low mood are two of the most common reasons people seek therapy — sometimes on their own, sometimes alongside each other, and sometimes as part of a longer-standing pattern such as a personality difficulty or a bipolar mood disorder. However it shows up, it tends to affect daily functioning, relationships, and work in ways that are exhausting to carry alone.
I work with a range of these difficulties individually, using whichever techniques are most appropriate for the person and the presenting issue — this may include cognitive behavioural approaches, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) techniques, somatic approaches, or others, depending on what's actually useful.
Where anxiety or low mood follows a specific traumatic or distressing experience, EMDR is sometimes an appropriate part of the approach — see that page for more on what it is and when it's used.
